Portage Glacier is one of Southcentral Alaska’s most visited places. This attraction is located just one hour from Anchorage. The drive south takes you along the scenic Seward Highway and Turnagain Arm where you may see wildlife along the way. You’ll cruise across iceberg-dotted Portage Lake on the mv Ptarmigan for an up-close experience with this massive glacier while you enjoy narration and optimal viewing options from the topside, open-air deck or fully enclosed, heated cabin with expansive windows.
There are five departures daily. If you need transportation, there is one departure daily that includes roundtrip travel from Anchorage and a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. See below for more details on each option.
